Alice Balagia

Alice Balagia was raised in Pflugerville, Texas. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Government and obtained her law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. While in law school, she volunteered with Tuscaloosa One Place and Raise the Bar to mentor at risk youth in local elementary and middle schools. She also worked for the law school’s domestic violence clinic, to assist low-income women with obtaining protection from abuse orders from the court. She was a research assistant to Professor Fredrick Vars during law school and assisted him in preparing a paper on the current state of mental health law in the United States and criminal defenses available to people with mental illnesses.
