San Antonio criminal defense lawyer Megan Roper is a proud San Antonio native and graduate of John Marshall High School. Megan joined our firm June of 2012. She attended Texas State University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications – Public Relations. Megan then attended St. Mary’s University School of Law where she earned a Juris Doctorate in May 2011 and a certification of concentration in criminal law. While in law school, Megan maintained a stellar academic record, and in 2010, Megan was winner of the Larry G. Hyden Mock Trial Competition. As a law student, Megan worked at Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid, where she helped low-income people with legal issues throughout southwest Texas. Megan also interned in the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office as well as the Office of the Public Defender for the Western District of Texas. Megan’s experience in the district attorney’s office was both enlightening and career changing. Working there opened her eyes to the vast and pervasive abuses fellow citizens suffer at the hands of the criminal justice system. That experience led her to pursue criminal defense and makes her a passionate advocate for rights of her fellow citizens.
Since joining our firm, Megan has become a certified practitioner of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Megan has also enjoyed a significant amount of trial experience in her time here, including six NOT GUILTY jury trials. In 2014, Megan was selected as a Texas Rising Star Attorney.
Not only is Megan a passionate advocate for the constitutional rights of citizen’s accused of crimes, she is also a proud advocate for the decriminalization and legalization of cannabis. As such, Megan is an active member of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
